Le lenti a contatto ormai sono indispensabili per una miglior vista e una migliore qualità della vita. Le lenti a contatto più pratiche e comode da utilizzare sono le lenti monouso. Questo significa che un portatore di lenti a contatto giornaliere getta via almeno un paio di lenti una volta al giorno. Ora una domanda seria: quanti di voi dopo aver utilizzato le lenti a contatto le hanno buttate nel water del bagno? Tanti! Lo dicono anche le statistiche e lo mostra anche la preoccupazione degli ambientalisti perché le lenti a contatto alla fine finiscono nei nostri mari e diventano un pericolo per la flora e la fauna marina.

Come e dove si recicla la scatola delle lenti a contatto?

Le lenti a contatto, visto che sono dispositivi medici realizzati con le tecnologie speciali, al momento sono difficilmente biodegradibili. Però c’è da sottolineare che si possono ancora riciclare! Leggi come si può fare.

Una confezione di lenti a contatto contiene una scatola di carta, un blister costruito di plastica con una linguetta di alluminio e alla fine le lenti a contatto (materiali in idrogel o silicone idrogel). Ecco come smaltire la scatola intera:

• la confezione di carta va nei rifiuti di carta
• il blister: la confezione di plastica va nella plastica, l’alluminio (dipende dal regolamento della città) va nella plastica o nel vetro
• le lenti a contatto nel generico (indifferenziato)

E’ importante riciclare bene le lenti a contatto e MAI buttarle nel water. Gli scienziati stanno lavorano sodo per trovare una nuova formula ed inventare lenti a contatto biodegradabili ma fino ad allora dovremmo pensare noi a smaltirle correttamente. Il Pianeta è solo uno ed è nostro. Prendiamocene cura, smaltiamo correttamente tutti i rifiuti!

Check the product

Before you take the car and come to us you have to make a preselection at home. First check that the lenses of the glasses are in excellent condition, without the presence of halos or smears: a future buyer would never buy glasses with halo or streaked lenses; moreover, changing the lens costs a lot of money! Also check the frame which must not be twisted or damaged. Finally, take a look around the house if you also have the original case and the box because this increases the value of the product.

  The best time to sell sunglasses is logically the spring / summer period where people can go out and show off the most precious accessory in the world. While there is no ideal time to resell used eyeglasses.

What you can do for other people

15 years ago, the Lions Club has created the Italian Lions Center for the collection of used eyeglasses that, instead of ending up in the landfill, are reconditioned and delivered to children and adults in need who are all over the world.
The numbers show the great generosity: one and a half million glasses are already resting on the nose of some person in difficulty who, otherwise, would never have had the opportunity to buy a pair.

  An activity that on the one hand shows the solidarity aspect, on the other winks at the circular economy by contributing to environmental sustainability (and we are here for that!).

  In the laboratory, old glasses are washed, selected, cataloged and prepared for a new life. Then there is the centre promoting the collection of used eyeglasses, which prepares, assembles and sends, to all Lions Clubs who request it, the material necessary for the creation of the "Collection kit".

  Now it's up to you to decide! You have two options: whether to donate used glasses to this collection centre as a charitable gesture or take them to our shop and earn some money to be able to buy your next pair of glasses.
